But I created a study system and roadmap that makes learning cybersecurity way less overwhelming, and I think it can help you too.
When I started studying for Security+, I was completely overwhelmed. The books were heavy, the resources were scattered, and nothing felt organized.
So, I downloaded Obsidian and I built my own system—a place to keep all my notes, flashcards, practice questions, and study plan in one organized hub. Then, because I’m also planning a career pivot into cybersecurity, I created a playbook that lays out the roadmap I wish someone had given me on Day One.
I’m sharing both with you—not because I’m an expert—but because if they helped me, they can probably help you too.

Hi, I’m Dara.
I’m not a cybersecurity expert (yet!) — I’m a senior UX designer who’s pivoting into cybersecurity just like you. When I started studying for Security+, I was completely overwhelmed by scattered resources, dense books, and confusing advice. So, I decided to create my own system to keep everything organized and beginner-friendly—because that’s how I learn best.
The Security+ Success Hub and Cybersec Pivot Playbook are exactly what I use every day to study smarter and plan my career transition. I’m sharing them because I know how frustrating it feels to be stuck—and I don’t want you to waste time like I did.
If you’re looking for an expert, that’s not me. But if you want a study buddy who put this together with the advice of professionals across cybersecurity and figured out how to make this easier, then you’re in the right place.
